Synology has announced the new 2.5-inch SSD SAT5200 designed for customers who require high capacity, reliable storage arrays with low-latency high-performance numbers for business-critical workloads.
With the increased demand for storage in both capacity and transfer speed, the SAT5200 is created with enterprise-grade durability, endurance, and reliability to help all customers to scale while protecting their precious data with the robust data protection feature. It also designed with costing in mind as it utilizes the SATA 6Gbps interface instead of NVMe, making it the best solution when the PCIe slots or interfaces have been fully occupied.
In terms of performance numbers, it can process over 58,000 4K random write IOPS with write endurance of 1.3 Drives Write Per Day (DWPD) which is quite impressive. By integrating it with the Synology DSM software it can further improve its lifespan through in-depth insight and analysis. The drive is also rated under the JESD219A enterprise workload that can tackle multiple types of files which is suitable for a wide range of deployments.
The SAT5200 is available in sizes of 480GB, 960GB, 1920GB, 3840GB with pricing for it be announced soon through partners and retailers. We will update the post when Malaysia pricing is available.
