Seagate has announced the global availability of its 30TB Exos M and IronWolf Pro hard drives, designed to address the growing need for scalable, high-performance storage driven by the rapid expansion of AI workloads.
The new drives are built on the Mozaic3+ platform and powered by heat-assisted magnetic recording (HAMR) technology, marking a significant step forward in hard drive density and efficiency. The launch also coincides with Seagate surpassing one million Mozaic hard drives shipped, signaling the maturity of its HAMR-based solutions.
With on-premise AI market projected to reach $42 billion within 3 years, the demand is certainly there, with edge AI adoption being one of the main driving force behind it that covers sectors such as retail, manufacturing, and finance, accelerating demand for disaggregated storage solutions.
Seagate’s Exos M 30TB drive targets hyperscale deployments, enabling organizations to scale storage and support real-time edge analytics, while the IronWolf Pro 30TB is optimized for NAS systems that increasingly handle AI-driven workloads like image recognition, retrieval-augmented generation, and video analytics. QNAP and UGREEN have both highlighted how integrating the new IronWolf Pro drives enhances local AI processing by providing scalable, high-integrity storage.
