Verdict – ILLEGEAR POSEIDON / POSEIDON XE

We were initially being told the main difference between the POSEIDON and POSEIDON XE is the former comes with AIO liquid cooler while the latter comes with a custom water cooling loop option. Turns out it was not as clear cut as it is since both of them are having similar component options when you shop on ILLEGEAR’s official website. Let’s just leave the name aside for now and focus on the component choices and the overall build quality.

For a custom-built PC, the most important aspect is the ability to choose components from a variety of brands including ASRock, ASUS, Gigabyte and MSI. That gives you the freedom to build a PC that fits your personal brand preference or simply because to fit a colour or design theme. In our case, we got a full ROG Strix treatment with the use of ROG Strix X570-E Gaming and ROG Strix RTX 2080 Super GPU. We were told that the RTX 30 series options will be available soon when the local stock arrives.

What we particularly like about this build is the use of the LIAN LI PC-O11 Dynamic case. It sports an excellent airflow and dual-chamber design for a clean presentation. The use of the LIAN LI Strimer Plus ARGB extension power cables further spices up this system with colours. Speaking of the ARGB, ILLEGEAR has also included a total of 7 ARGB fans in the chassis. Our only complaint is the lack of third-party fans option for consumers when they purchase the POSEIDON. As for the radiator, some of you might be triggered by the use of ILLEGEAR SHIVA X AIO 240mm radiator at the top, but at least users have the option to choose other AIO with 360mm radiator.

All in all, ILLEGEAR has done an excellent job on the workmanship when building this PC. The cables are well managed given the case has tonnes of space behind the motherboard tray. Check out their official website if you’re interested to learn more about their services and pricing.
