Samsung has quietly updated its SSD product once again, and we can see why – It’s not a new product, but rather a new SKU for the existing 9100 Pro SSD.
As one of the flagship M.2 NVMe SSDs in the market right now, few has pushed out the cream of the crop products designed for actual power users as well as people with too much money on the hands who don’t mind spending on futureproofing their rig, and that’s where the 9100 Pro comes in with its 14800MB/s and 13400MB/s sequential read and write speeds.
Its performance is undeniably strong, so the limiting factor is going to be how much the user is willing to spend on the capacity. The initial batch had 1TB all the way up to 4TB, with the latest one being the 8TB variant, and yes, it cost a whopping US$999.99.
But as you might notice, it is out of stock (for now), while the 4TB variant is taking a one-fifty cut off its price, so it’s a good time to push that cost-per-gigabyte (or maybe terabyte in this case) ratio up a bit to make your money worth your while.
On the other hand, the heatsink-integrated is in fact, in stock, and you can grab it with a measly US$1019.99 deduction off your bank account.
However, if you’re consider using this drive solely for AI workloads, then it might not be the best choice, as its random IOPS is measured at around 2.2M, which is okay and decent but the best ones using PCIe 5.0 are reaching 3M and upwards, so do make a fair comparison and choose the one that matches your needs the best.

Samsung Malaysia will be launching this variant at the price of RM4,239 (standard) and RM4,269 (with heatsink) respectively, available on their website as well as official Lazada and Shopee storefront soon.
