Samsung used Gamescom 2026 in Cologne to pull back the curtain on its 2027 Odyssey gaming monitor lineup, and it’s packed with genuine world-firsts featuring the OLED G9 / G8 / G7 / G6 lineup.
Leading the charge is the Odyssey OLED G9, the world’s first 49-inch DQHD monitor running at 360Hz. It uses a fifth-generation QD-OLED panel with Penta Tandem technology, which Samsung says is up to 1.3 times more efficient and lasts twice as long as the previous generation, and it can hit up to 1,300 nits of peak brightness. Players who want even more speed can switch into Dual Mode and drop down to Dual HD resolution for up to 720Hz.
The Odyssey OLED G8 takes a different approach, packing a 32-inch 4K OLED panel with Triple Mode support, letting you toggle between UHD at 360Hz, QHD at 520Hz, or FHD at a blistering 680Hz depending on what the moment calls for. It also brings Samsung’s Glare Free tech, which uses a film that’s 54% less glossy than typical anti-reflective coatings, along with VESA DisplayHDR TrueBlack 600 certification and support for both AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible.
For players who want a more cinematic feel, the Odyssey OLED G7 is the world’s first 42-inch curved OLED gaming monitor in a 16:9 format, offering roughly 72% more screen area than the previous 32-inch model. Its 1000R curve pulls the edges closer to your line of sight, which makes it a natural fit for immersive RPGs and open-world games, and it still manages a 165Hz refresh rate with the same Glare Free treatment.
Then there’s the Odyssey G6, built purely for speed. It’s the world’s first 1,100Hz gaming monitor, aimed squarely at competitive FPS players, and it lets you choose between that blistering refresh rate in HD or drop to QHD at up to 600Hz through Dual Mode. It’s set to launch globally in the second half of 2026.
Beyond the hardware, Samsung also spotlighted a new HDR10+ GAMING partnership with Activision Blizzard, bringing richer HDR support to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, with plans to expand that ecosystem to more than 20 AAA titles by mid-2027. The company also showed off its growing Odyssey 3D support, now including titles like Cyberpunk 2077 and Cronos: The New Dawn, giving certain games added depth and spatial perspective.
