We were informed that this is his first time visiting Malaysia and he will be meeting the Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Bin Ibrahim to discuss possible collaborations. Jensen stated that he sees Malaysia as a country with many talents and offers excellent infrastructure for AI, which can be seen through the 80 partners NVIDIA which consists of big companies and startups in Malaysia that excel in each respective industry.

NVIDIA Jensen Huang Malaysia Visit

We’ve seen a tremendous breakthrough in AI since last year and it’s not just for the professionals, but normal people as well. ChatGPT is one of the most popular AI that is easily accessible nowadays and has helped a lot of people solve their problems or challenges even without having any prior knowledge of the specified topic.

One example given is programming, which back in the day, required training and proper understanding of the logic behind what you wanted to create but with ChatGPT, anyone can code a fully functional program, be it a simple one without any trouble. He added that Generative AI as we see it today, really helps in closing the technology gap between countries and it is recommended that you give it a try if you haven’t already done so.

Apart from meeting with the Prime Minister, we were also informed by other participants that the CEO will be meeting with Dato’ Yeoh Seok Hong, the Managing Director of YTL Power International Berhad and YTL Communications Sdn Bhd to discuss the plan to build an AI data center here in Malaysia. He neither acknowledged nor denied the claim but later added that NVIDIA and YTL can work on something great in the future.

With YTL already working closely with NVIDIA on the game streaming service GeForce NOW through their Yes 5G wireless broadband service, the rumored AI data centers in Malaysia aren’t exactly that farfetched at all. Traditional data centers are meant to hold important data but AI data centers are the other way around. Instead of holding stale data, AI data centers are more like a factory that is constantly processing raw data and transforming them into useful data that can be used for many applications.
