Acer Predator has revealed a whole bunch of new stuff today but let’s go through the gaming laptops and gears segment because these new guys are real serious about gaming.
First, we have the king of the hill that takes over the title of the strongest gaming laptop in the Acer Predator family – the Predator Triton 17 X. This muscle-packed machine is capable of hosting up to an Intel Core i9-13900HX CPU and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 GPU plus a maximum of 64GB DDR5-6400 RAM and up to 4TB of PCIe SSDs in RAID 0 that tears through 4K gaming like it’s nothing.
One of the best panels are also included as part of the package – a 17-inch 16:10 display with 2 configurations available where one of them is a WQXGA mini-LED variant that pushes a whopping 250Hz refresh rate, capable of doing more than 1,000 nits of brightness to fulfill the DisplayHDR requirements plus a 1M:1 high contrast ratio on top of the 100% DCI-P3 color gamut plus Eyesafe Certification for low blue light emission. Also, let’s not forget NVIDIA Advanced Optimus and G-SYNC for all the tearless smooth game frames.
All these powerful parts require a comprehensive thermal solution and Acer’s Vortex Flow technology is in charge of that through a tri-fan cooling setup including 2x custom-made 5th Gen AeroBlade 3D fans with wind-guiding structures. Dedicated heat pipes for the CPU and GPU in addition to well-placed intake and exhaust vents push out heat efficiently while liquid metal thermal grease on the CPU sips heat better than everyone else in the market.
From a user’s standpoint, the Triton X 17 contains a per-key RGB keyboard, fingerprint reader, and glass touchpad together with a powerful DTS:X surround sound system powered by 6 speakers. Connectivity options include Thunderbolt 4, SD 7.0 card reader, Intel Killer E3100+ Ethernet, and Killer Wi-Fi 6E AX1690i. No excuse such as the Internet lagging again.
If the Triton 17 X is too much for you, then may consider the small yet powerful Triton 14 with up to Intel Core i7-13700H and either the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 or 4050 Laptop GPU that goes together with a max 32GB of LPDDR5 RAM at 6000MHz. The screen’s a brilliant one as well which is a 14-inch 16:10 MiniLED 250Hz panel with DisplayHDR 600 certification and 100% DCI-P3 coverage.
It uses a similar cooling system as the Triton X 17 although not as beefy because it is just about 20mm thin. The latest Intel Killer Wi-Fi 6E AX1675i ensures a good wireless connection while the MicroSD card slot makes moving photos and videos from cameras a breeze.
On the other hand, a new mid-range selection has been introduced in the form of the Predator Helios Neo 16. Coming with a combo of 13th Gen Intel Core HX CPUs paired with up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPU with a maximum TGP of 140W. One can configure it to host up to 32GB of DDR5-4800 RAM and 2TB of PCIe SSD in RAID 0. Under the hood features an all-metal AeroBlade fan and liquid metal thermal grease to give more headroom for the CPU to boost.
About the screen, there are 2 options with one of them being a WQXGA (2560×1600) IPS display at 165 Hz and 3 ms response time or another WUXGA (1920×1200) with 165Hz refresh rate and 100% sRGB color gamut. Both of them have NVIDIA Advanced Optimus and G-SYNC support as well.
Now for the special one as the next-gen Predator Helios 3D 15 SpatialLabs Edition is packing the good stuff of the Intel Core i9-13900HX and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 Laptop GPU on top of 32GB DDR5-5600 RAM. The back vents have been optimized and streamlined to push air more smoothly while a subtle RGB flows along for a soft ambient glow.
The stereoscopic 3D display and SpatialLabs eye-tracking solution power eye-popping 3D scenes and games for more fun across different genres. The machine is further supported by Intel Killer E2600 Ethernet, Intel Killer Wi-Fi AX1675i, and a wide range of ports including 2x USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 input alongside 2x Thunderbolt 4 and also a MicroSD card reader.
