World-class data, storage, and monitoring solutions provider Synology has announced the latest installment of the DiskStation NAS storage the DiskStation DS1520+ that has better hardware and software optimization suitable for small office and IT enthusiasts.
Compared to the past model such as the DS920+ and DS1019+, it is now equipped with 8GB of DDR4 RAM and has 4 1Gbe ethernet ports instead of 2, allowing more devices to be connected at once. The biggest improvement, however, is its ability to be expandable up to 15 bays, providing up to 240TB of raw capacity and paired with the usual 2x NVMe SSD served as caches for better transfer speeds. In general, it is reported to have 126% better responsiveness for web servers and 8% better in computing tasks.
Availability
The Synology DS1520+ is available today from Synology resellers and partners worldwide but the official pricing for the Malaysian market has not yet been revealed. According to UK reseller Span.com, it is priced at £598.00 which is around RM3300, however, judging from the previous price of DS1517+, expect our local pricing to be at the RM2000-RM2500 range.
