Synology Malaysia has officially brought its PAS7700 active-active all-flash NVMe storage system to Malaysia, aiming it squarely at enterprises that need serious performance and continuous uptime for heavy workloads in sectors like healthcare, manufacturing, and semiconductor design.

Synology PAS7700

The hardware itself is housed in a 4U chassis packing dual controllers and 48 NVMe SSD bays, allowing it to scale up to 1.65 PB of raw storage capacity using up to seven expansion units while supporting both file and block storage with a massive array of protocols including NVMe-oF, iSCSI, Fibre Channel, SMB, and NFS. For raw performance, the system is equipped with up to 2,048 GB of memory and 100GbE networking, delivering up to 2 million IOPS, sub-1 millisecond latency, and sequential throughput reaching up to 30 GB/s.

Instead of running a traditional active-standby model, the standout active-active architecture keeps both controllers running simultaneously so that if a controller or network component drops, the system keeps delivering services without interruption, backed by further protection layers including triple-parity RAID, mirrored write cache protection, IP failover, automatic failover mechanisms, and a Continuous Availability Manager that allows IT teams to visually track component health.

Given that PIKOM’s Beyond Compliance: The State of Cyber Resilience in Malaysia 2026 report indicates the average cost of local data breaches jumped to RM3.2 million in 2025 with major incidents crossing RM5 million, Synology has integrated serious enterprise-level data defenses into the hardware including Self-Encrypting Drives, WORM folders, and immutable snapshots that cannot be modified or deleted by unauthorized users, alongside Snapshot Replication and Hyper Backup for multi-layer recovery.

To balance out these high infrastructure costs, the entire platform runs on the specialized DSM Enterprise operating system, supporting both inline and offline deduplication to extend SSD lifespan, while preparing a near-future Synology Tiering feature to automatically migrate cold data away to high-capacity storage and keep the fastest NVMe layers clear for hot data.

Availability

The PAS7700 is now available globally through Synology’s network of partners and distributors, including Malaysia.
