Synology has revealed the new 12-bay RackStation RS2421+ and RS2421RP+ for large-scale general storage deployment.
Boasted higher throughputs to accelerate file movement including backups and direct access and modifications, these new Rackstation models are able to deliver 2000MB/s and 1154MB/s read and write speed while having 161% and 103% higher random read/write IOPS compared to previous generations. Scaling with the ever-increasing demand for network access speed, both the RS2421+ and RS2421RP+ can be fitted with a Synology 10GbE or 25GbE NIC or with Synology SNV3400/3500 NVMe SSD through an M.2 adapter card, depending on which side is being bottlenecked. Need to get more RAM or pure storage capacity? Both of them can support up to 32GB DDR4 ECC memory and an extra RX1217(RP) expansion unit can be hooked up for an additional 12 drive bays.
Software-wise, they are also in line with other Synology products with DiskStation Manager OS providing features such as Hyper Backup for 3rd-party cloud storage, Active Backup Suite that serves Windows clients of all kinds, vast support for many types of VM software and platforms, and Synology’s Drive, Chat, and Office all facilitating online collaboration with ease. They can be also deployed to serve as a surveillance system with support up to a maximum of 40 cameras at once too.
Pricing and Availability
Since this was just getting announced, Synology’s official Shopee page has yet to be updated with the latest RackStation RS2421+ and RS2421RP+ so it will probably reach Malaysia pretty soon.
