In a move to propel Selangor to the forefront of digital innovation, the Selangor Technical Skills Development Centre (STDCx) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mendix, a Siemens business and global leader in low-code application development, and Orangeleaf Consulting, Malaysia’s leading low-code consultancy. The signing ceremony took place at the Hannover Messe 2024, the world’s largest industrial technology exhibition.
This strategic partnership aligns with Selangor’s vision to bridge the digital divide and fuel economic growth. Chief Minister of Selangor, YAB Dato’ Seri Amirudin Bin Shari, highlighted the agility and robust capabilities of Mendix’s low-code platform, which allows individuals without coding backgrounds to develop software solutions.
“This partnership aligns with Selangor’s mission to promote technological advancement, reduce the digital divide, and further increase economic growth in the state,” he said.
The collaboration focuses on three key areas:
- Equipping the workforce: STDCx will provide training programs to equip Malaysians with Mendix’s low-code technology.
- Fostering innovation: Innovation labs will be established to facilitate collaborative projects and drive technological advancements.
- Mentorship and community engagement: Mentorship programs and community outreach initiatives will promote knowledge sharing and participation in digital transformation.
Ellice Ng Pui San, CEO and Co-founder of Orangeleaf Consulting, emphasized the potential of low-code in empowering businesses and developing local talent.
“We believe that digital transformation begins with progressive milestones. Hence, our strategic partnerships expedite technological advancement in Malaysia,” she said.
Orangeleaf Consulting aims to groom 300 new Rapid Certified Developers in Malaysia within the next three years.
