Dell Malaysia has announced the reimagined and improved XPS 13 ultrabook series consisting of the traditional clamshell and convertible variant.
True to the roots of the XPS aesthetic, it features an astounding 5th generation 4-side InfinityEdge display offering crisp visuals, high brightness, and really good clarity surrounded by a super-thin bezel while the enhanced sound setup packing bigger speakers than ever now churns louder audio and deeper bass. As per usual, the laptop’s CNC machined aluminum chassis is fully curated with expressive color, unified tones, and durability.
Dell also showed a couple of under-the-hood details by comparing the old model on the left to the new one on the right. According to the visuals, the new model now has a 1.8x smaller size and it is the smallest one to date, thus the entire weight and form factor gets to be reduced while the silicon power level continues to rise thanks to Intel’s 12th Gen Core mobile processor. Being an ultrabook, great wireless connectivity is a must so it has a strong Wi-Fi 6 chipset and the 5G support. Yes, the 2022 XPS 13 supports 5G now!
As for the 2-in-1 convertible model, it can be described as an upgrade towards the standard type as the magnetic XPS Folio allows the device to be adjusted at the angles of 100°, 112.5°, and 125° while the XPS Stylus provides a natural and comfy writing and inking experience with ease, can run up to 50 days on average, and magnetically snaps on top of the laptop for charging. Although not a full premium experience, it is still pretty good (and suitable in a practical sense) at a maximum of 3K resolution. For the webcam, the 1080p FHD front-facing type makes you flawless on video calls while the 4K back-facing guy can take high-fidelity photos on the fly without involving your smartphone.
Availability and Starting Price
Dell Malaysia has stated that the 2022 XPS 13 will become available starting mid-June with a base price of RM4,999 and the following specs:
