Cadence has closed out its latest deal with Aeva through the licensing of the former’s Tensilica Vision DSP IP to strengthen signal processing capabilities in its 4D LiDAR systems.

The integration is designed to support more scalable and flexible perception pipelines, particularly for applications in industrial robotics and automotive autonomy, where real-time decision-making is critical. With LiDAR enabling high-precision spatial awareness, from 3D mapping to object detection across autonomous vehicles, robotics systems, and industrial automation environments, Aeva’s 4D LiDAR extends this further by capturing velocity alongside position, giving machines a richer understanding of motion and improving how autonomous systems interpret dynamic environments.
Cadence’s Tensilica Vision DSP architecture is the processing backbone for these workloads, combining programmability with efficiency to handle demanding signal processing tasks at the edge. With low-power design and a customizable instruction framework, it allows Aeva to tailor compute pipelines for latency-sensitive operations such as point cloud processing and real-time perception.
Aeva’s Chief Engineer, Jaames Reuther, stated that Cadence DSP provides the flexibility and performance uplift to push boundaries of perception and deliver scalable solutions to automotive customers.
