AMD has announced another round of updates for the Radeon Software Adrenalin coming in at version 21.4.1.
Focusing on optimizing usability and providing additional features, the new AMD Link Game is basically a game streaming function that allows other Radeon GPU-equipped rigs to connect to your PC to enjoy local multiplayer content and remove the needs for split screens, if applicable. The overall user interface has been slightly tuned to allow gamers to tune Ryzen CPU and Radeon GPU within a single screen. Similar to the GeForce Experience, a native streaming wizard helps newbies to set up and jump-start their streams easier than ever supported by enhanced optimization towards recording and streaming gameplay. Surprisingly, AMD is taking a toll on troubleshooting by introducing the AMD Crash Defender algorithm that prevents the OS from completely crashing in selected scenarios and helps to save important files during crucial times and lastly, a PlayReady AV1 software decoder has been added to support any use cases.
Taking a stroll off the PC gaming side, AMD also announces that its FidelityFX developer toolkit will be integrated into the Xbox Game Development Kit to officially support the latest Xbox Series X and Series S ecosystem to help studios to harness the open-source visual technologies such as Contrast Adaptive Sharpening, Variable Shading, and Denoiser. As the consoles are utilizing Zen 2-based architecture, developers will also be provided a performance guide and proper documentation on how to properly utilize the powerful CPU to the fullest. Microsoft’s side has also contributed something towards the PC community such as the new DirectX 12 Agility SDK that enables programmers to harness everything the APIs have to offer while paving the way to integrate DirectStorage technology into the platform. Additionally, the HLSL Shader Model that is included in the DX12 Agility SDK is now at version 6.6 that expands upon stability and range of support towards 64-bit data and resources.
