Add up to 2 DX517 expansion units to make the total set up a maximum of 15 drive bays or opt for improvements upon the overall performance with a 10GbE network support or NVMe SSD upgrades.

Part of the newer features that you can advantage of is making the DS1522+ into a cross-platform private cloud hosting files and synchronization between platforms of Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS. Aside from standard files, one of the most stored data is definitely photos so Synology Photos can quickly pull and back up media, sort and organize, or sharable.

Touching on the subject of video surveillance, the DS1522+ can be configured to become a full-fledged video management system via the Synology Surveillance Station software which is a powerful VMS that provides flexible ONVIF support and over 8,300 different kinds of validated IP cameras to get the monitoring job done easily. With it, the system can take up to 40 cameras at once and if needed, floor plans and overlays like Google Maps or OpenStreetMap can be integrated as well to maximize control and awareness.
