At the GTC 2024 conference, NVIDIA unveiled Project GR00T, a foundational AI model designed specifically for these robots. GR00T allows robots to understand natural language and mimic human actions. This translates to robots that can learn new skills and navigate real-world environments more effectively.

“Building foundation models for general humanoid robots is one of the most exciting problems to solve in AI today,” said Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA.

To power these advanced robots, NVIDIA also introduced the Jetson Thor computer. This new platform is specifically designed for humanoid robots, offering the performance and efficiency needed for complex tasks.

But the advancements don’t stop there. NVIDIA is also significantly upgrading its Isaac robotics platform. This upgrade includes tools like Isaac Lab, which allows for training robots through simulations, and Isaac Manipulator, which provides enhanced control over robotic arms.
