MSI MPOWER – A name that has not been in mainstream media for a while, but I guess it’s back, and it’s giving Team Red support this time.
Since last year’s Z790 MPOWER for Intel systems, for this year, AMD will be the choice here, and buyers will be able to look forward to its solid overclocking performance at a reasonable price compared to the super high-end enthusiast-class boards.
Aside from hosting the AM5 socket, the size is also smaller than expected as it takes the mATX dimension as well as the signature black-and-yellow color scheme from the early MPOWER and XPOWER days.
As for whether it is for B850 or B850E, this is still up for debate as we wait for MSI’s official announcement but from the looks of it, 2x DDR5 slots with up to 128GB RAM capacity is supported with an M.2 slot right next to it while the thick heatsink covers the chipset as well as additional M.2 slots.
Yet the most important aspect would be how “affordable” this new model would be and whether it would be as “tough and durable” to withstand the convoluted meddlings by veteran OC players in the scene, but I think they’ll definitely keep an eye on this.
