To push laptop computing to a new high, Intel has officially revealed the new Core Ultra 200HX and Core Ultra 200H family of chips that clock in 6 and 5 SKUs respectively for the initial debut.
Despite making a drastic shift to focus on power efficiency via the Core Ultra 200V series of chips which they have done quite a respectable job to be honest, today’s subject of the Core Ultra 200HX/200H is bringing back the “roots of Team Blue” by slightly reducing the power of the NPU module and instead focuses on stronger performance for things like gaming and demanding productivity apps.
We’ll start with the 200H lineup that comes with Lion Cove P-core and Skymont E-core architectures that promise up to 15% better performance in single- and multi-threaded tasks compared to their predecessors in addition to the Intel Arc-based iGPUs with Xe LPG+ cores for that extra graphical “oomph” which is appreciated by the recipient of these processors namely thin and light laptops. They also support DDR5-6400 and LPDDR5x-8400 memory speed by trading the max capacity of the previous gen’s 192GB down to just 96GB.
On the other hand, the Core Ultra 200HX series guns for the highest clock speeds which achieved 5.4 GHz and 2.8 GHz peak clock speeds for P and E cores in this generation.
As mentioned above, the NPU’s TOPS performance is kind of low compared to the 200V SKUs because it is only in the range of 10-13 so no CoPilot+ stickers on these gaming laptops I assume.
In any case, here’s a quick specs table for both series.
