[IFA 2017] Acer Unveils Swift 5, Spin 5 and Switch 7 Black Edition 1

Acer has introduced their next generation of Swift, Spin and Switch models at IFA 2017. Incorporating the latest 8th generation Intel Core processors, the new devices also come with biometric technology supporting Windows Hello. Along with the new refreshing design and style, the new notebooks strikes an ideal balance in form and function.

The Acer Switch 7 Black Edition is powered by the 8th gen Intel Core i7 processor and NVIDIA GeForce MX150 graphics processing unit, great for multitasking and content creation on the go. What makes it so special is that it is the world’s first fanless 2-in-1 notebook with a discrete GPU. This is achieved with Acer’s ultra efficient LiquidLoop fanless cooling technology.

Weighing less than 1.15 KG when detached from the keyboard, the new Switch 7 Black Edition is extremely versatile. The brushed aluminium body offers a robust feel and solid to the touch. Featuring the Acer AutoStand, a patented kickstand that is capable of auto-deploying and retracting, it allows single handed operation as if you’re using a regular clamshell notebook.

The 13.5-inch IPS display panel sports a 2256 x 1504 pixels resolution. Bundled along is the stylus powered by Wacom EMR technology that features 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity and pen tilt support, providing users with an authentic writing and sketching experience.

The new Swift 5 weighs less than 1 KG and it is perfect for users who want the ultimate portability and solid performance. The chassis is constructed with various materials in order to achieve the ultra light weight yet durable chassis, which includes the ultra-light magnesium-lithium alloy for the top and bottom cover, and magnesium-aluminium alloy for the palm rest area.

Under the hood are the 8th generation Intel Core processors and a robust battery life up to 8-hours, allowing users to work efficiently on-the-go. The Full HD IPS display supports multitouch and the narrow bezel design enhances the viewing experience.

Acer Spin 5: The convertible

The new Acer Spin 5 is an extremely portable and versatile device, thanks to its unique form factor which allows the user to interchange seamlessly among laptop, tablet, display and tent modes. The 13-inch model of the Spin 5 weighs at only 1.5 KG and measures in 15.9 mm thin while the 15-inch sibling is just over 2 KG in weight and 17.9 mm thin.

Powering the Spin 5 is the 8th generation Intel Core processors, up to 16 GB of DDR4 RAM, and up to 13 hours of battery life. The 15-inch model has a discrete NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 graphics processing unit option. The Spin 5 features a sharp IPS Full HD panel that supports multitouch. It also works with an optional Acer Active Stylus for the added usability and control through Windows Ink.

Pricing & Availability

The Acer Switch 7 Black Edition will be available in North America in December with prices starting at $1,699, and in EMEA in December starting at €1,999.

The Acer Swift 5 will be available in North America in December starting at $999; in EMEA in December starting at €1,099, and in China in November starting at ¥7,499.

The Acer Spin 5 will be available in North America in September with both the 13-inch and 15-inch models starting at $799, and in EMEA in September with the 13-inch model starting at €899 and the 15-inch model starting at €999.
