Acer has announced the new PA100 portable SSD that can help with moving large media files between devices, managing a growing personal archive, or working out of a mobile setup that needs storage to just keep up without any fuss.
Speed-wise, the PA100 runs on USB 3.2 Gen 1 connectivity, hitting sequential read speeds up to 560 MB/s and write speeds up to 430 MB/s, which is a solid step up from what you’d get with a mechanical external drive. On the capacity side, there are 500GB, 1TB, and 2TB options.
Portability is clearly a priority here too. The PA100 comes in a slim 9mm profile with a lightweight build designed for life on the move, and reinforced construction that helps it survive daily commuting and general handling. Acer’s also including a 2-in-1 USB-C to C and USB-A cable in the box, so plugging it into a laptop, tablet, or phone is straightforward no matter which ecosystem you’re in, and it works across the major operating systems and USB-C mobile platforms you’d expect to use it with.
The ultra-low-power design lets it stay under 3W during use and drop as low as 0.62W when idle, and to top it off, there’s a 3-year limited warranty, so it’s built to stick around as part of your everyday setup for a while.
