If you think the announcement of the ‘Alder Lake’ 12th Gen Intel Core processor isn’t that hot anymore, you’ll be surprised to hear that G.SKILL yet bested themselves AGAIN at breaking the highest achievable DDR5 frequency record.

G.SKILL Trident Z5 RGB DDR5 6800

Essentially making the DDR5-6600 news an actual piece of history now, this specific Trident Z5 2x16GB kit has been rated to hit DDR5-6800 when overclocked to its limit. Judging from the incremental 200MHz gain from the past, it could be possible that the IC chips within these kits are specially cherry-picked/binned and fully tested against all sorts of testing to make sure they can all reach this tremendous frequency. Made to complement the new Intel CPUs and Z690 motherboards, this may or may not be the fastest RAM kit announced but not readily available just yet. And I mean right now, because who knows when will G.SKILL pull something similar again next week.

For reference, here are G.SKILL’s overclocking results using 2 different kits with timing profiles of CL38-38-38-76 and CL42-42-42-76.

For a quick recap, G.SKILL will be shipping the Trident Z5 DDR5 RAM kits starting next month.
