Look, we all missed the good ol’ EVGA when it comes to enthusiast-class GPUs of NVIDIA and notable the Kingpin series model tuned by the renowned OC veteran himself. Today, we’ll say goodbye to yet another component of the EVGA community but at least it is just a premise reallocation.
The news came after the announcement of its own forums as the brand is urging its fans and communities to transition to Reddit for better engagement in terms of platform familiarity and impressions, stating: ” Responding to the feedback from our valued customers and in light of Reddit’s widespread popularity, EVGA would like to encourage its community to transition to Reddit. As of this announcement, our existing forums will be read-only and our team will actively engage with customers on Reddit threads moving forward.”
The r/TEAMEVGA subreddit was created all the way back in 2015 (r/EVGA is the unofficial one by the way) and who would have thought this registered “landmark” would finally be put in full use after 10 years?
While EVGA has ditched its GPU business operations due to issues working with NVIDIA, they are not going away even after 2 years with some PSUs, Intel motherboards, and gaming peripherals supporting its main operations as of now. Yet it is still not as clear in terms of how the organization is capable of staying afloat financially.
Yet it’s not like maintaining a position as an NVIDIA AIB partner would reverse the situation as GPU profit margins have been reduced over the years with the latest GeForce RTX 50 series having vastly higher MSRPs when compared to official Founders Edition cards, with one such example being MSI and ASUS. Even if the existing rumor of “at least 1 model from AIB partner that matches NVIDIA MSRP” is true, one might have difficulties finding them as standalone units as these “unprofitable prices” are usually offered as a fully built gaming PC bundle.
