The latest gaming laptop carrying the AMD Advantage sticker is awarded to the Alienware m17 R5 and the most interesting aspect of the machine is none other than the monitor.

Alienware m17 R5

Forged with competitive spirit in mind, Team Red is in charge of both the CPU and GPU here, hence the AMD Advantage Edition naming, in case you forgot. The pairing will see the Ryzen 6000 series mobile processor to go with the Radeon RX 6000 series graphics card with the latest options added to the mix being the Radeon RX 6850M XT. By utilizing both parts by AMD, gamers can unlock additional features such as SmartShift Max to get the most of every battery percentage, Smart Access Graphics, Smart Access Memory, and FreeSync Premium – all of which can give more advantages (pun intended) to the user.

Alienware x17 R2

The debut of the machine also sees Alienware packing an FHD 480Hz 3ms panel into the system to provide as much smoothness and responsiveness across games, especially competitive multiplayer titles. Despite showing up in a full “AMD Only” option, the display is actually rated to work with AMD FreeSync as well as NVIDIA G-SYNC with Advanced Optimus so the chance for it to debut in the more general “Intel+NVIDIA” laptops in the future is more than likely.

At the time of the announcement, only the m17 R5 and x17 R2 are given this option. Alternatively, there’s a 4K 120Hz selection for the more sight-seeing eye candy-focused gamer instead of pure reflex.

Alienware G16

Scaling things back down, the other machine revealed is the G16 coming hot to be one of the hottest gaming machines with a balanced performance and pricing ratio. Hosting a 16-inch QHD 165Hz display which is the sweet spot for 1440p gaming, the machine carries the Intel Core i7-12700H CPU and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Laptop GPU with a beefy cooling solution to tackle the related heat issue. Alienware also opens up the customization game a bit by letting buyers pick the features of the keyboard, whether it needs to be strictly one-zone or per-key RGB or even uses Cherry switches for a true mechanical keyboard experience, it is up to you.

Availability

As of now, the Alienware m17 R5 and G16 are still getting finalized for local release so no info for them whereas the x17 R2 has a starting price of RM12,099 which consists of the following specs:

  • Intel Core i7-12700H
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060
  • 16GB RAM
  • 512GB PCIe SSD
  • 17.3-inch FHD 165Hz Display
