AOPEN is a subsidiary of Acer that aims to provide devices to the budget market. Just like how Acer Nitro series is the budget gaming laptop option while Predator Triton and Helios are the higher-end options.
At launch, AOPEN introduced a total of three different monitors that starts from RM289 for the 22CV1Q, RM379 for the 24CL1Y which we will be looking at today and RM699 for the 27HC5RP.
Hands-on: AOPEN 24CL1Y
While the general construction is made out of plastic, but that’s pretty reasonable for the price you’re paying. AOPEN initially mentioned the 24CL1Y’s IPS FHD panel only supports up to 60Hz refresh rate. However, the moment we plugged it into our PC and have a look in the display configuration, we found out it is capable of reaching 75Hz instead of the claimed specs of 60Hz. After checking with the Acer representatives, they manage to confirm with us that the 24CL1Y’s 75Hz is available through HDMI connection.
