Acer’s live stream last night was a hectic one and while there’s more focus on the mobile and laptop market, they are not forgetting the desktop gamers as they showcased a pair of new gaming monitors for both the Predator and Nitro lineup.
First, we got the Predator XB273K LV designed for those who just want the very best the current generation of display technology has to offer in all aspects as it is a 27-inch panel running in UHD resolution and sports a 160Hz refresh rate and 0.5ms Gray-to-Gray response time. Aside from the usual ports, it also has HDMI 2.1 so it can also be a good console companion too. We can’t also ignore the fact that it also has color accuracy of Delta E < 1 and is DisplayHDR 600 compliant so you can a great HDR experience in both games and movies.
As the same size, the Nitro XV272U RV drops the resolution down to WQHD which is the 1440p range to suit the needs of most mainstream gamers these days. It is not bad on its own as it runs at a maximum of 170Hz refresh rate (overclocked) and has a decent 1ms Gray-to-Gray response time. It is also nice to know that AMD FreeSync is fully supported while the 95% DCI-P3 color gamut with color accuracy of Delta E <1 practically means that it is good for games and video content as well. Oh, can’t forget about the DisplayHDR 400 certification, too.
Reference Price
The Acer Predator XB273K LV is priced at USD999 while the cheaper Nitro XV272U RV will be made available at just USD449 and a good Q3 release date margin is expected.
