COMPUTEX 2024 was buzzing with AI, but Acer’s booth offered a glimpse into the future with something a little different – SpatialLabs. This division focuses on 3D imaging and display, and their demonstrations were truly mind-blowing.
They have a variety of setup to showcase the naked-eye 3D experience.
The SpatialLabs View Pro 27 monitor is an industrial-looking monitor with the capability of displaying 3D content without the need of any special glasses. The technology relies on stereoscopic vision, so capturing it on camera was impossible, but the effect was undeniable.
The Spatiallabs Eye is the camera for creating 3D content. Streamers can also use this camera to stream 3D footages.
Acer also showcased their Copilot+ PC series powered by the latest Snapdragon X Elite processors.
I got my hands on the Acer Swift 14 AI and played around with the “Recall” feature. This AI tool is a dream for forgetful folks like myself. You can jump to a specific point in time on a screenshot, and Recall uses AI to analyze the content. Need to grab a link or some text? No problem – Recall lets you interact with the screenshot for easy retrieval. Privacy is a concern, but Acer addresses this with on-device processing and user-controlled app and website filters. You can even adjust the storage space allocated to Recall (default is 50GB, expandable to 150GB).
While Acer also displayed the new Swift models with the Intel Lunar Lake platform as well as the Ryzen AI 300 platform, unfortunately they were “sealed” for display only. No touchy-touchy.
Acer wasn’t just about the future; they also displayed their award-winning present. The Swift Go 14, a thin and light laptop packing a powerful Intel Core Ultra 9 processor, caught my eye for its portability and performance.
The Predator section surprised me with the monstrous Predator Z57 monitor. This 57-inch behemoth boasts a 1000R curvature, mini LED backlight technology, and a jaw-dropping resolution equivalent to two 4K monitors, all in a mind-bending 32:9 aspect ratio. The image quality was truly stunning.
Overall, Acer’s COMPUTEX 2024 booth was a showcase of innovation. From mind-bending 3D displays to AI-powered productivity tools and monstrous gaming monitors, Acer continues to push the boundaries of what’s possible.
