The Immortals Cup Grand Final just wrapped up and Sabah’s Triple Comma Gaming (TCG) has been crowned as the DotA2 King of Borneo. The decisive battle on last Sunday witnessed the team slaying Sarawak’s Team Xeno for the champion seat.

Triple Comma Gaming professional eSports team is just three months old and currently being sponsored by Epost Express & Enigma Entertainment. TCG made a 3-0 against Team Xeno in the best-of-five grand finals. It was TCG’s second duel against Team Xeno in the tournament, having crushed the team 2-1 in the semifinal stage on Saturday, to book their ticket in the grand final on Sunday. Having not dropped a game, TCG entered the grand final battle with a 1-0 advantage.

Despite their Sabahan opponents being given a point ahead, Team Xeno, whose sponsor even flew over from Miri on short notice to support the team, displayed a strong fighting spirit and even almost drew first blood in the first game. But the Sarawak lads deserved all praise for their determination to earn their place in the grand final as they had to beat Apple, another team from Sabah, in the lower bracket final and later eliminate their fellow Miri-based team, CR1 Stratos.

They gave TCG a scare at the start of the first game by scoring 16 kills to 6, but the Sabahans managed to crawl back to win after delivering two successful intense contests to their advantage. TCG, knowing that they only needed to win the next game to become the grand champion, did not waste time to be on the offensive by making 4 kills to nothing in just below three minutes. They were 16 to 5 in the next five minutes and widened the gap soon after.

For some moments, Team Xeno fought back to keep within distance but when the score was 31 kills to 18, they knew their hopes of winning faded by the second. Tournament venue, Karamunsing Exhibition Hall, erupted when the crowd roared “Deska”, who was TCG’s star player, to urge him to delete Team Xeno off the server. TCG, who had the home crowd roaring in support at almost every click of the mouse, delivered the fatal blow soon after and within minutes after that, it was game over with the score of 35 kills to 21.

Triple Comma Gaming (TCG) Crowned as Immortal Cup Champion 1

The team bagged RM10,000 out of the total prize pool of RM22,000. Team Xeno earned RM5,000, while CR1 Stratos and Apple received RM3,000 and RM2,000, respectively.
