Razorpay Curlec has recently announced the addition of Apple Pay support, allowing Malaysian businesses to offer one-tap payments authenticated through Face ID or Touch ID. Instead of the usual multi-step card entry process, customers can now check out with a single tap.

With this integration, merchants can accept both local and international payments via Apple Pay across iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch, supporting Visa and Mastercard cards already stored in Apple Wallet.

While a lot of aspects could affect the chances of a given customer to complete a purchase, checkout friction remains as one of the top reasons, and sure, merchants are trying to improve conversions, but usually, the final payment step is where things fall apart.

The rollout is backed by major banks and issuers, including AmBank, Hong Leong Bank, HSBC, Maybank, RHB Bank Berhad, Standard Chartered, and Wise Payments Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., covering Mastercard, Visa, and, in some cases, American Express cards.

According to Kevin Lee, Country Head and CEO of Razorpay Curlec, seamless payments are no longer optional as Malaysia accelerates its digital transformation, and interestingly, within just one month of enabling Apple Pay, the company saw a 10% increase in successful transactions, with success rates climbing to as high as 95%, alongside noticeably stronger checkout conversions and fewer drop-offs at the payment stage

He also highlighted that the integration connects Malaysian merchants to a global ecosystem spanning 89 markets and over 11,000 banks, effectively bringing a trusted international payment standard into the local market while making both domestic and cross-border transactions as simple as a tap.
