Pioneer today announced the launch of its new APS-SL2 and solid-state drives as part of an expanding portfolio of IT and consumer electronics products. It did surprised us a little, as the company is well-known for its premium electronics and audio-visual innovations – not for their IT related product at least.
The newly-introduced Internal SSD Series are designed for high reliability and low power consumption, along with anti-shock and anti-vibration protection. In addition, it also supports S.M.A.R.T. feature, garbage collection, and advanced LDPC error-correction capability to ensure data security and stability. All these, are pretty much the features we’ll find on most consumer grade SSD nowadays.
Both the APS-SL2 and APS-SM1 SSD is based on the best-in-class TLC NAND flash memory and SLC cache technology. Based on the specification provided, the SSDs are capable of sequential read and write performance of up to 500MB/s and 400MB/s, respectively.
