NVIDIA has officially announced the “tier 2” professional use RTX PRO 5000 Blackwell graphics card, packed with 72GB of VRAM for workstation builds without the biggest budget.
Sure enough, this model will be the premium version of the existing 48GB SKU since it offers 50% more VRAM across the board to train more powerful LLMs, long context windows, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and multimodal pipelines, all in all delivering up to 2,142 TOPS of AI performance.
Performance-wise, the gains are hard to ignore. In generative AI benchmarks, the RTX PRO 5000 72GB delivers up to 3.5x faster image generation and 2x faster text generation compared to prior-generation NVIDIA hardware. Creative professionals benefit just as much, with render times dropping by as much as 4.7x in engines like Arnold, Chaos V-Ray, Blender, D5 Render, and Redshift. On the engineering side, NVIDIA is also touting more than double the graphics performance for CAD and product design workloads.
On the availability front, the RTX PRO 5000 72GB is already shipping through partners like Ingram Micro, Leadtek, Unisplendour, and xFusion, with wider rollout via global system builders expected early next year.
