It’s the news many PC builders have been waiting for since the G2 was first teased. Noctua has officially pulled the curtain back on the chromax.black version of its flagship NF-A12x25 G2 120mm fan. If you’ve been holding out on upgrading your radiator or case cooling because you couldn’t fit the signature “Noctua Brown” into your build’s aesthetic, your patience has finally paid off.
Refined Performance, Now in All-Black
The NF-A12x25 G2 chromax.black isn’t just a simple paint job. It retains all the boundary-pushing engineering of the standard G2, including the Sterrox® liquid-crystal polymer (LCP) impeller and the record-tight 0.5mm tip clearance.
By using the Progressive Bend impeller design and a Centrifugal Turbulator hub, the fan is designed to dominate in both high-impedance scenarios (like thick water-cooling radiators) and low-impedance airflow applications.
Solving the “Hum” with the Sx2-PP Set
One of the most interesting additions to this launch is the Sx2-PP dual-fan pack. Noctua is addressing a common enthusiast headache: beat frequencies.
When two fans run at identical speeds side-by-side, they often create a periodic humming or vibration. The fans in the Sx2-PP set are speed-offset by approximately 50rpm, effectively cancelling out these harmonic phenomena. This makes them the ideal choice for push-pull configurations or 240mm/360mm radiators where acoustic perfection is a priority.
Key Technical Highlights
- etaPERF™ Motor: Features SupraTorque™ technology to maintain consistent speeds even under high pressure.
- SSO2 Bearing: Noctua’s legendary bearing tech for long-term stability and silence.
- Customizable Aesthetics: While the fans are all-black out of the box, they remain compatible with colored anti-vibration pads (sold separately) for those who want a specific accent color.
- Built to Last: Rated for an MTTF of over 150,000 hours and backed by a 6-year manufacturer’s warranty.
Pricing and Availability
The new fans are rolling out now with the following suggested retail prices:
- NF-A12x25 G2 PWM chromax.black: EUR 34.90 / USD 34.90
- NF-A12x25 G2 PWM Sx2-PP chromax.black: EUR 64.90 / USD 64.90
With the NF-A12x25 G2 already racking up over 70 awards since its debut last year, this blacked-out variant is likely to become the new “gold standard” for high-end stealth builds.
