Kingston Technology, a world leader in memory products ranging from storages to RAM – has announced a refresh to its budget-centric Canvas series of flash storage cards. It is now known as the Canvas Plus series and it spans across both SD and microSD form factors. It also Kingston’s first UHS-II flash storage card. Alongside this speed upgrade also comes the new MobileLite Plus UHS-II card readers.
Within the refreshed Canvas Plus series of cards, we have a total of 3 different families that are meant for different uses. SD cards are pretty complicated nowadays since it needs to cater its specs for multiple different types of use cases. We now have these:
Canvas Select Plus:
- Class 10 UHS-I speeds of up to 100MB/s read.
- MicroSD supports A1 app performance class.
- SD and microSD in capacities up to 512GB.
Canvas Go! Plus:
- Class 10 UHS-I U3 speeds of up to 170MB/s read, 90MB/s write.
- MicroSD supports A2 app performance class.
- SD and microSD in capacities up to 512GB.
Canvas React Plus:
- Class 10 UHS-II U3 speeds
- SD card: up to 300MB/s read, 260MB/s write
- microSD: up to 285MB/s read, 165MB/s write
- The first UHS-II microSD to support A1 app performance class to expedite workflow on tablets and smartphones.
- SD and microSD in capacities2 up to 256GB.
Kingston’s new MobleLite Plus card reader is made to complement the high-speed Canvas Plus cards. It supports USB 3.2 Gen 1 speeds for even higher transfer speeds – which is essential for many of us who are working on the field. It is also especially useful since higher-quality videos tend to have higher bitrate which means larger file size, despite having the same frame rate and resolution.
