As students return to a new academic year, their laptops and desktops are being asked to handle more than just assignments. Online learning, research, presentations, content creation, multitasking and gaming can all put additional demands on a system, making storage and memory upgrades a practical way to improve everyday performance.

Therefore, Kingston is here to highlight several of its storage and memory products for students, covering everything from internal NVMe SSDs and portable storage to gaming-focused SSDs and DDR5 memory.

Faster storage for everyday workloads

For students dealing with slow boot times or delays when switching between applications, an SSD upgrade can make a system more responsive. The Kingston NV3 PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD uses a Gen 4×4 NVMe controller and offers read and write speeds of up to 6,000MB/s and 5,000MB/s, respectively. Its single-sided M.2 2280 design is also available in capacities up to 4TB.

For heavier workloads such as 4K video editing, 3D modelling and large-scale data projects, the Kingston KC3000 PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD offers speeds of up to 7,000MB/s for both read and write operations. It uses a Gen 4×4 NVMe controller with 3D TLC NAND and features a low-profile graphene aluminum heat spreader.

Portable storage for campus life

Students moving between classrooms, libraries, homes and other campus spaces can also benefit from portable storage.

The Kingston Dual Portable SSD features both USB Type-A and USB Type-C connectors, allowing files to be moved between a wider range of devices. It reaches speeds of up to 1,050MB/s, comes in capacities up to 2TB and uses a compact, lightweight design.

The Kingston XS1000 External SSD takes a similar approach in a smaller form factor, offering speeds of up to 1,050MB/s through USB 3.2 Gen 2. It can be used for backing up assignments, carrying project files or expanding device storage, with included cables and adapters supporting PCs, Macs, tablets, game consoles, smart TVs, iPhones and Android smartphones.

For simpler file transfers, the Kingston DataTraveler Exodia S USB Flash Drive uses USB 3.2 Gen 1 and is available in capacities up to 512GB. Its rotating cap design provides additional protection for the connector, while multiple color options give students some choice in appearance.

Memory and storage for gaming and demanding applications

Students who also use their systems for gaming and other demanding workloads can step up to Kingston FURY products.

The Kingston FURY Renegade G5 PCIe 5.0 NVMe SSD uses a Gen5 x4 controller and 3D TLC NAND, with rated speeds of up to 14,800MB/s read and 14,000MB/s write, alongside more than 2 million IOPS. Capacity goes up to 8TB, providing room for large game libraries as well as creative projects and other files.

Meanwhile, Kingston FURY Beast DDR5 RGB memory is designed for gaming, multitasking, and other performance-oriented workloads. It includes on-die ECC, dual subchannels, integrated power management and dynamic RGB lighting.

Together, the lineup covers several upgrade paths, from adding faster internal storage to expanding portable capacity or increasing memory for more demanding applications.
