Acer Malaysia just announced a bunch of new things in the market today – ranging from laptops to displays and even projectors. Here we have the new TravelMate ultrabook laptops for both the business and general consumers. There’s also a new super ultrawide display which Acer is calling it the EI491CR. It is a 49-inch curved monitor.
These TravelMate ultrabooks can weigh as low as 1.1kg only, which is certainly magnificent. It also comes with a U-variant of the Intel Core i7, and also equipped with a touchscreen. Since it has Thunderbolt 3 support, you can plug in an external GPU and start gaming on this machine.
If you want a cheaper option without these frills, you can opt for the TravelMate X314 that does not have a touchscreen.

The Acer EI491CR also has a few special features built in. The main highlight here is the 32:9 aspect ratio with a massive 49-inch curved VA panel. One unique feature is the ambient light sensor which adjusts the brightness accordingly – just like your phone. You can also mount the display as it supports VESA mounting.
With such a humongous display, I personally find it definitely useful for video editors. Imagine a timeline that spans the entire length of the display – and Acer has made the EI491CR monitor covering 90% of DCI-P3 color gamut. This display is also certified with DisplayHDR 400 to show the best colors and brightness for the entire scene.
The EI491CR is also compatible with Radeon FreeSync 2 technology to enable HDR gaming without any screen tearing.
