If EV batteries are one of the most disruptive technologies in the automobile industry, then “Full Self Drive”-capable vehicles will definitely be the other. With that said, at CES 2025, NVIDIA is officially launching a new platform called DRIVE AGX Hyperion poised to accelerate the development of safe, innovative, and highly performant autonomous vehicle technology.

As the world’s first end-to-end autonomous driving platform, DRIVE Hyperion utilizes DRIVE AGX SoC plus reference board design to incorporate NVIDIA DriveOS on the software layer plus a long list of sensor suites to go with an LV2+ active safety and driving stack to achieve unprecedented environmental and context processing capability.

The latest version features the DRIVE AGX Thor SoC running the Blackwell architecture but the entire DRIVE ecosystem is powered by NVIDIA DGX, Omniverse on OVX, and the aforementioned DRIVE AGX further complimented by NVIDIA Cosmos for dramatically accelerated end-to-end AV development and deployment at scale.

NVIDIA also wants software-defined vehicles that can be updated via OTA drops and meet strict functional safety and cybersecurity standards. As such, parties like TÜV SÜD and TÜV Rheinland are just the beginning as credits by the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB) have also been given to conduct safety and cybersecurity inspections for its DRIVE ecosystem partners which is handled by the new NVIDIA DRIVE AI Systems Inspection Lab.

Turning the subject towards industry partners, we have Toyota, Aurora, and Continental joining the list of official partner for AV development and production. The Japanese brand will be implementing DRIVE AGX Orin + DriveOS into its next-gen vehicles for advanced, functionally safe driving assistance systems while the American and German duo are going for the driverless trucks at scale albeit revolving around the same DRIVE ecosystem for consistency and easy management.

Other brands are also adopting DRIVE AGX which includes YD, JLR, Li Auto, Lucid, Mercedes-Benz, NIO, Nuro, Rivian, Volvo Cars, Waabi, Wayve, Xiaomi, ZEEKR, Zoox, and many others.
