Apparently, this collaboration has been in the works since May 2025, when Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi visited Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun in Beijing. Yamauchi got hands-on with the SU7 Ultra and took a tour of Xiaomi’s EV facility in Yizhuang. He was clearly impressed, saying Xiaomi’s rapid rise in the auto industry and the bold performance of the SU7 Ultra at the Nürburgring reflect a spirit of innovation that aligns with Gran Turismo’s core philosophy.

Lei Jun echoed that sentiment, highlighting how both companies share a mission to improve lives through technology. He also praised Gran Turismo for its global reputation and said it was an honor to have the SU7 Ultra featured in such a prestigious franchise.

At the event, Yamauchi called the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra a standout among smart EVs, especially noting its Nürburgring track times as proof of Xiaomi’s engineering muscle. And it’s no joke as the car features a HyperEngine V8s tri-motor setup pushing out a whopping 1,548 PS, with a top speed north of 350 km/h and 0-100 km/h in just 1.98 seconds. It also uses 21 carbon fiber parts across 5.5 square meters, balancing performance with luxury.

Xiaomi’s EV team isn’t just building cars as lead test driver, Zhoucan Ren expressed, their team will continue testing there to refine the car even further and due to the amazing technology behind synchronizing physical and virtual data, it directly influences how the car behaves on actual roads, which is part of Xiaomi’s broader goal to bring race-level engineering into consumer vehicles.

And there’s more to come because both parties are already planning to collaborate on a futuristic new concept car called the Xiaomi VISION GRAN TURISMO, designed specifically for the game.
