Centered around building a stronger regional semiconductor ecosystem, James Chang from the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia and Robert Lin from TEEIA are leading the opening, alongside representatives from MATRADE and other Taiwanese trade and business groups in Malaysia – all of the important people and business folks are here for a tech showcase and a diplomatic-economic play.
While Taiwan is still leading globally when it comes to IC design and wafer fabrication, Malaysia has carved out a strong role in packaging and testing. And with demand from AI, robotics, and data centers ramping up fast, there’s a growing opportunity for both countries to collaborate on things like advanced chips, sensors, and control systems – not just for local use, but to expand across the region.
On top of that, Malaysia’s position as a major semiconductor exporter makes it an attractive partner, which is why TEEIA brought in 15 Taiwanese companies this year to let everyone see everything from advanced packaging tech to smart manufacturing and digital transformation solutions, with the goal of turning this into actual business deals and partnerships rather than just a display.
