ROG has announced they will be bundling the “anti-GPU toast” power cable, the ROG Equalizer, together with Thor III and Strix Platinum series of PSUs for added value towards the already premium-tier PC part.

The promotion runs from May 28 to November 28, and owners of Thor III and Strix Platinum power supplies purchased before the cable bundle change can check eligibility for a discounted upgrade via serial number verification through ASUS. The cable itself is backed by a three-year warranty, regardless of whether it comes bundled or via the upgrade program. Both black and white variants are scheduled to arrive in Q2 this year.

For a quick recap, the ROG Equalizer is said to be carrying a redesigned 12V-2×6 cable architecture that increases per-wire current capacity from the standard 9.2A to 17A, which could handle short-duration power excursions common in high-end graphics workloads, while also maintaining lower connector temperatures under sustained loads. The company claims the cable is engineered to keep temperatures under 105°C even in heavy 600W-class scenarios, where conventional designs may run significantly hotter.

Utilizing tin-plated oxygen-free copper to improve conductivity and reduce resistance while also targeting more stable behavior under uneven load conditions across pins, ROG also optimized the software part via GPU Tweak III, as when the cable is paired with compatible ROG graphics cards that support Power Detector+, users can monitor per-pin current behavior and receive alerts if abnormal conditions are detected. The idea is to create a dual layer of protection, combining physical cable-level improvements with real-time software oversight.
