Standalone smart assistant devices have been slowly gaining track in recent years due to their ability to interconnect all smart devices and control them through a single hub through voice commands while performing query lookups to complete tasks or answering questions. 3rd party manufacturers often integrate compatibilities for several brands of virtual assistants such as Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa.
To everyone’s surprised, Razer has announced that their in-house cloud-based configuration tools Razer Synapse 3 that mainly support its own products, is now compatible with Amazon Alexa through a dedicated module without any additional hardware. That means by simply hooking up a compatible microphone, you can control your PC even remotely.
The current implementations cover several basics voice commands that control aspects of your PC which are:
- Increase or decrease volume
- Adjust Chroma lighting or audio visualizer
- Open a browser
- Native Alexa functions such as weather, news, smart home controls
Razer also promised to work on additional commands to provide more convenience while perfecting the smart AI assistant formula. Maybe they are planning to create their own virtual assistant in the future, made “For Gamers, By Gamers“? Now that would be super interesting to see.
