Within the ASUS branding, we have a lot of different lineups. Within ASUS itself, there’s a lineup of products called ProArt. The ProArt series has monitors, desktops, motherboards, and laptops. Today, we’re going to take a look at the ProArt laptops – which is also called StudioBooks.
The lineup of ProArt laptops is pretty straightforward – so let’s take a look at this video here.
In summary, the ProArt StudioBook lineup is mainly focused on creators. We have two laptops shown in the video – one of them is the ProArt StudioBook One, which is made with NVIDIA.
It packs a lot of powerful design and comes in a very unconventional design. All of the powerful components are packed behind the screen, and the lid cover opens up to provide additional air intake for cooling.
It is the world’s first laptop to have an NVIDIA Quadro RTX 6000 graphics chip, and it enables us to bring this laptop and do intensive 3D rendering work wherever we go. Even the 300W power brick is tiny, thanks to the use of GaN substrate.
For a more conventional laptop design, we also have the ProArt StudioBook Pro 17. It’s made completely out of aluminium with supremely solid construction in a very thin body. What’s interesting here is that the ProArt StudioBook is using a 17-inch 16:10 aspect ratio screen instead of the more conventional 16:9, which means we have more vertical height to work with – and that’s exceptionally helpful for photo and video editing.
Also, it has a full-sized SD card reader alongside many high-speed ports, including Thunderbolt 3. That’s fantastic.
What defines ProArt
ProArt is made for photographers, filmmakers, video editors (me), animation, game development, and even engineering work. It’s a laptop that’s packed with a powerful CPU, and also NVIDIA Quadro GPU. Well, the latter one isn’t always the case.
You see, we have the ProArt StudioBook Pro 17 with us, but there is also another ProArt StudioBook 17 in ASUS’s website. The former has two “pro”s in the name, whereby the latter only has one. The laptop with a single “pro” means that it’s using a GeForce GPU instead of a Quadro GPU.
The Quadro GPU is useful for computer-aided design (CAD) or engineering (CAE) work, which makes use of the Quadro GPU for accelerated complex math calculations. If you don’t need that Quadro GPU, then there is that option as well.
Another defining feature of the ProArt series is the display. All ProArt StudioBook laptops have fantastic displays that cite fantastic color accuracy with Delta-E <1.5. That’s impressive.
All StudioBook laptops also have a ProArt utility that has a built-in color calibration tool for you. You’ll still need to get your own calibrator hardware, but the software part is done for you.
