Noctua has released a new multi-socket mounting kit under the name of NM-M1 that allows pre-existing Noctua coolers to enjoy the new Torx-based SecuFirm2+ standard alongside the latest sockets.

Noctua NM M1 Mounting Kit 1

Available for coolers utilizing mounting pitches of 83mm and 78mm, this new series is by far the most “widely supportive” models ever – AMD’s AM4/AM5 and Intel’s LGA1851/1700/1200/1151/1150/1155/1156.

In Team Red’s case, the offset mounting option dedicated for AM5 can even bring down CPU temps of up to 3°C which is literally “free” to everyone.

If you don’t know, the new SecuFirm2+ abandons Phillips head screws in favor of Torx T20 instead. This helps the entire operating experience by making turns way easier while providing better durability since the screw heads are better against wear and tear.

Using the magnetic tip NM-SD1 Torx T20 screwdriver, this is by far the easiest and most intuitive option for power users like reviewers and PC builders who need to swap out coolers for testing or installing multiple units for a big order.

Specifically, except for the NH-L9a and NH-L9i series as well as server and workstation models with larger bases, all post-2005 models with the correct size will be compatible. Additionally, the mounting kits come with either nickel-plated or chromax.black variants with the latter coming in full black parts of screws, fastening brackets, and mounting bars.

Price and Availability

Sizes would not be the deciding factor for the price difference but rather the color options so no worries about Noctua going “corpa” on you.
