Microsoft has announced a whole set of new features and updates for Copilot on its 50th anniversary day on April 4.
Personalized Memory and Proactive Assistance
To start, Copilot is now capable of “remembering” things when users prompts something that is memory-based, allowing the LLM to remember user-specific details such as preferences, important dates, and past interactions which can be recalled (no pun intended) later as reminders or being factored into recommendations such as event planning and idea suggestions.
For those feeling this is too “invasive”, users can opt out of this feature or customize each detailed setting to make up a comfortable privacy profile that matches each user’s requirements.
Visual Awareness and Task Automation
Copilot can now also accept video inputs thanks to Copilot Vision that can visually interpret real-world environments through smartphone cameras and interact seamlessly with on-screen content which essentially skips lots of troublesome steps just to feed the AI assistant with the correct materials to go with the prompts.
Additionally, Copilot Actions can handle multi-step tasks autonomously, such as booking for travel or making reservations by the efforts of early integration with platforms like Expedia and OpenTable.
Enhanced Research and Organizational Tools
For those who want some actual “facts” to back up their thoughts or just simply want some shower thoughts answered, Copilot’s Deep Research is here to help by consolidating information from multiple online sources and documents, streamlining the research process.
If needed, the Pages feature further helps format the collected info into documents for focused projects, which simplifies content management.
