NVIDIA and Microsoft have announced a new AI-focused computing platform that aims to transform traditional Windows PCs into systems capable of running intelligent AI agents locally. Unveiled at COMPUTEX 2026, the new RTX Spark platform combines NVIDIA’s AI expertise with Microsoft’s Windows ecosystem to deliver what the companies describe as a new generation of AI-native personal computers.

The announcement reflects a growing industry trend toward agentic AI, where AI systems move beyond simple chatbot interactions and become capable of planning, reasoning, and performing tasks on behalf of users.

Designed for AI-Native Computing

At the heart of the new platform is NVIDIA RTX Spark, a system architecture built around NVIDIA’s Grace CPU and RTX GPU technologies. According to NVIDIA, RTX Spark can deliver up to one petaflop of AI performance while supporting up to 128GB of unified memory, allowing demanding AI workloads to run directly on a local PC.

Rather than relying entirely on cloud services, AI agents running on RTX Spark-powered systems can process data locally, potentially offering lower latency, improved privacy, and reduced dependency on internet connectivity.

NVIDIA says the platform is optimized for AI-powered workflows such as content creation, software development, productivity assistance, and intelligent automation.

Microsoft Doubles Down on AI PCs

The partnership also marks another major step in Microsoft’s push toward AI-powered Windows experiences.

Over the past few years, Microsoft has introduced AI features such as Copilot across Windows and Microsoft 365. However, many advanced AI capabilities continue to depend heavily on cloud infrastructure. With RTX Spark, Microsoft gains a new hardware platform capable of handling more sophisticated AI workloads directly on-device.

The companies are also working on security frameworks that allow AI agents to operate safely within Windows while maintaining user control and privacy.

For the broader PC industry, NVIDIA’s move represents an interesting development. Traditionally known for graphics processors and datacenter AI accelerators, the company is now positioning itself as a key player in the future of personal computing.

NVIDIA confirmed that systems powered by RTX Spark will be offered by major PC manufacturers including ASUS, Acer, Dell, HP, Lenovo, MSI, and Microsoft’s Surface division.

The first RTX Spark desktop systems are expected to become available later this year, while RTX Spark-powered laptops are scheduled to arrive in early 2027.

With support from some of the world’s largest PC vendors and Microsoft’s Windows ecosystem, RTX Spark could become one of the most significant AI PC platforms to emerge in the coming years.
