To unlock the full potential of AMD’s latest HEDT platform, the Ryzen Threadripper 7000 series CPUs, ASUS has introduced two new motherboards in the Pro WS class to fulfill this role.

ASUS Pro WS WRX90E SAGE SE and Pro WS RTX50 SAGE WIFI

The Pro WS WRX90E-SAGE SE and Pro WS TRX50-SAGE WIFI models are designed to support the most advanced SKUs of the upcoming Threadripper PRO offerings. This is particularly challenging as the top-tier CPUs boast an impressive 96 cores and 192 threads, delivering unparalleled performance in tasks such as complex simulation, software compilation, generative design, and rendering.

For example, the VRM of the Pro WS WRX90E-SAGE SE is an impressive (16*2)+3+3+3 power stage. It can accommodate dual PSU power inputs to ensure a stable and robust electricity supply. The 2nd gen ProCool connectors securely fasten each pin to the 12V CPU input, enhanced by metal armor and solid pins for superior heat dissipation. If additional power is required, an extra PCIe 8-pin can be inserted.

In terms of DRAM, there are 8 slots for an octa-channel setup with ECC support. The Q-Release Slim design on each PCIe slot (there are 7 PCIe 5.0 x16 slots, by the way) simplifies the installation of additional components.

On a smaller scale, the Pro WS TRX50-SAGE WIFI is tailored for the non-PRO version of the Threadripper 7000 series, supporting configurations of up to 64C/128T. Featuring a VRM of (18*2)+3+4+4 power stages, it is overclocking-ready with 4x ProCool II connectors to ensure stable power output and physical connection. It provides 4 DDR5 ECC-supported DRAM slots, with three out of five PCIe slots being 5.0 x16.

Other notable features are summarized for easy reading:

  • Efficient cooling with massive VRM heatsinks made of extruded aluminum, featuring a finned design + 2 fans on either side of the CPU
  • M.2 slots protected by substantial heatsinks and thermal pads
  • Extended heatsink covering PCIe x16 slots
  • Up to dual 10GbE ports
  • 20Gbps USB-C ports with Quick Charge support
  • USB4 expansion cards
  • Up to 4x PCIe 5.0 M.2 SSD slots
  • Onboard BMC for IPMI support
  • Enhanced security protection via ASUS Control Center Express
