ASUS IoT has officially announced the PE1000U PC that comes with some serious edge computing power in a box that’s barely bigger than your hand.

ASUS IoT PE1000U

Measuring just 63 x 110 x 160mm, this DIN-rail-mountable model can be configured with either an Intel Core Ultra 265U or 235U processor, combining CPU, GPU, and NPU acceleration to handle motion control, AI inference, and graphics workloads at the same time. That hybrid compute approach is especially useful for edge scenarios that demand fast single-thread responsiveness while still running AI models locally.

Connectivity is another strong point with 4x USB ports, up to 4x COM ports, and up to 4x Ethernet (two of them being 2.5GbE). There’s also dual CAN Bus and isolated DIO for deterministic control, while DisplayPort and HDMI outputs can drive up to two 4K displays for HMI panels or machine-vision monitoring.

On the other hand, it uses a sealed, fanless thermal design with a wave-pattern aluminum heatsink that transfers heat directly from the CPU and memory to the enclosure. With no fans or vents, dust stays out, noise stays at zero, and long-term reliability goes up. The system is IP40-rated, tested to US MIL-STD-810H standards for 5Grms vibration, and is designed to operate in temperatures ranging from -25°C to 70°C, which covers everything from factory floors to semi-outdoor installations.

Power-wise, it can be started with a wide 9–36V DC power input and includes built-in ignition control, making it suitable for on-vehicle deployments. And for AMRs and collaborative robots, the compact footprint, screw-lock connectors, and vibration tolerance help ensure stable operation, while optional WiFi 6E or 5G connectivity keeps it linked to cameras, LiDAR, motor controllers, and fleet-management systems.

Computer vision and laser processing setups will appreciate the DIN-rail form factor and single-side I/O, simplifying cabinet wirin,g while the multiple Ethernet ports support multi-camera arrays. The isolated DIO can also handle precise triggering for strobes and illumination without introducing electrical noise, which is critical for accurate vision tasks.
