Android 7.0 Nougat rolling out to Nexus devices 1

Google just surprised the Android community with the release of the Android 7.0 Nougat to the current Nexus devices prior the launch of 2016 Nexus Marlin and Sailfish. That is rather unconventional as a new version of Android is always released with new Nexus device(s).

Android 7.0 Nougat final version will be pushed to the following devices:

  • Nexus 6P
  • Nexus 5X
  • Nexus 6
  • Nexus 9
  • Nexus Player
  • Pixel C
  • General Mobile (Android One Program)
Sadly, the much loved Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 which was released back in 2013 are no longer on the list as they have past the 2 years guaranteed major OTA update timeframe. Hence, Nexus 6 is now officially the oldest supported device for Android 7.0 Nougat.
The latest iteration of Android brings new features such as the long-awaited multi-window support, improved notification bar, battery life improvements and much more.
