Today, Noctua announced an exciting update for PC builders and enthusiasts: all Noctua CPU coolers and mounting kits that currently support Intel’s LGA1700 socket will also be compatible with the newly released LGA1851 socket, which is designed for Intel’s upcoming Core Ultra 200S series desktop processors (Arrow Lake-S).

Noctua’s Commitment to Free Mounting Upgrades

In keeping with its tradition of offering free mounting upgrades, Noctua will provide customers with free upgrade kits for older heatsinks that do not yet support LGA1700 or LGA1851. This means even Noctua’s earliest coolers from 2005 can be used on the latest Intel processors without the need for a new cooler.

Roland Mossig, Noctua’s CEO, emphasized this point, stating:

“We have offered free-of-charge mounting upgrade kits to our customers ever since AMD introduced AM2 in 2006, and we’re proudly continuing this tradition with the upcoming Intel Core Ultra Series 2 processors and their new LGA1851 socket.”

How to Upgrade Your Cooler

For customers with older Noctua coolers, the upgrade process is simple. Noctua will allow users to order mounting kits directly from their website, free of charge. However, customers will need to provide proof of purchase for both a compatible Noctua cooler and either an LGA1851 CPU or motherboard. For those who need the kits urgently, they can also be purchased on Amazon for a small service charge.

Sustainable and Economical Solutions

Noctua has long promoted the idea of upgrading rather than replacing coolers, helping customers save both money and reduce waste. As Mossig noted:

“Using a CPU cooler across several platform generations instead of buying a new heatsink for each generation is not only economical, but also helps to reduce unnecessary waste and save precious resources.”

Future-Proofing with SecuFirm2+ Kits

For users who want to ensure compatibility across both Intel and AMD platforms, Noctua recommends the NM-M1-MP83 and NM-M1-MP78 mounting kits, which are compatible with both LGA1851 and AMD’s AM5 sockets.

This update ensures that Noctua continues to support its customers with sustainable, performance-driven solutions, solidifying its reputation as one of the best cooling solution providers in the industry.
