Covered by PCWorld following Windows Report‘s article on the matter, the tracking blocker is actually quite ineffective in modern times because “most websites simply do not want to participate in protecting the better interest of visitors and users” with specific cases even backfiring and reducing privacy instead.

For now, the org recommends the activation of Global Privacy Control as an alternative by finding the “Tell Websites Not to Sell or Share My Data” setting but whether if visited sites will honor this flag, that’s another story.

Originally introduced as a test function back in 2009, “DNT” was created due to the FTC of the United States called for online privacy regulation and in 2011, that feature became official. Yet due to the capitalistic nature particularly from advertisement industries and other aspects, the feature simply ran its course and lasted quite a long time to be honest.
