In a bit of some stealth action, someone at Videocardz has spotted that the ASUS-made GPU companion software, GPU Tweak III, has been updated with added features for the ROG Astral RTX 50 series GPUs.

ASUS POWER DETECTOR PLUS 1200x779

Although it is made by ASUS, the nature of the software is more like MSI’s Afterburner (which has been ditched due to geopolitical and more complex issues) and can be used on all GPUs carrying either NVIDIA or AMD GPU dies. As expected, the latest GPU Tweak III has been updated to fix some compatibility issues.

However, the best thing for enthusiast-class users would be PowerDetector+, which is designed to monitor the stream of power coming into the GPU by checking on the voltage and amps of all pins as well as ensuring the entire 12VHPWR connector is properly connected. Detecting issues that could damage the card would result in a warning thrown to the user immediately that calls for remedial action.

In context of this “hidden update”, this is delivered towards ROG Astral RTX 50 series GPUs as well as ROG Matrix models (The RTX 4090 in this case) so if you’re running the card, be sure to catch the V1.9.4.3 GPU Tweak III update for additional protection towards your precious graphics card.
