ASUS Malaysia has brought in yet another education-tailored Chromebook laptop to the local market. Let’s see what the new Chromebook CR11 Flip is all about.
This 11.6-inch multitouch device continues the signature “durability first” approach with an extra-tough rubber bumper protecting all 4 exterior edges and orders that reduce physical shock while the spill-resistant keyboard can protect against spills and even drain the liquid out for easy clean up and drying.
The rubber safety grip on the bottom provides sturdy support and a non-slick surface for less chance of fumbles and slips in addition to the micro-dimpled finish of the entire chassis resisting against fingerprints.
And of course, the entire device is tested and complies with MIL-STD-810H durability standards.
Meanwhile, the convertible design makes the garaged stylus input easy to use and intuitive for taking notes and sketching things within. A special slot is also there to house the stylus and charge it when not in use.
I/O wise, there’s a pair of USB-C, a pair of USB-A 3.2 Gen 2, a microSD card reader, and a 3.5mm audio jack.
The battery life is rated for up to 12 hours which is more than enough for a full day of online studying (Of course, this is also partially contributed by the rather low-powered computing parts, which may be a merit or demerit depending on who you are).
Worried that your kids could get spied on? The physical webcam shutter is there to protect against that too.
ASUS also streamlined the build process of the devices so that when it is time to disassemble for upgrades or maintenance, everything is easy to identify and take apart such as the keyboard, touchpad, and screen panel.
Price and Availability
The 4GB RAM and 32GB eMMC model of the ASUS Chromebook CR11 Flip is priced at just RM1,789 which is super accessible while the 8GB RAM and 64GB eMMC variant goes up to RM2,099.
As usual, education institutes that need large volumes and more feature sets can opt-in for the Chrome Education Upgrade unlocking more functions for educators to work with.
